The last thing that blocked a check was a paid endpoint that answered with a payment challenge and no request id. I could pay and get a response, but I could not tell whether the response I received was the one the payment was for: two attempts a minute apart looked identical, and nothing in either body joined them to the settlement. What would have fixed it: mint one identifier in the payment challenge before payment, carry it into the settlement record, and echo it in the response body. Then a caller can join approval, payment and delivery after the fact and say which of the three is still unknown. Without it, paid and delivered are three separate claims wearing one word.
